SIPO invests in the aromatic herbs and spices market
The company widens its range of goods branded Sapori del mio Orto with more than 20 products, redefining it with the two new categories of spices and aromatic herbs.
Sapori del mio Orto aromatic herbs and spices are available for sale on the Italian and foreign market. The range has undergone a significant makeover: the change of name from fresh aromatic herbs to aromatic herbs and spices; the expansion of products with the addition of lemon balm, tarragon, coriander, dill, lovage and spicy habanero, cherry, capsicum and jalapeno peppers; a new personalized label for each product and the change of pack from plastic trays to recycled cardboard trays with micro-perforated anti-fog polypropylene protection film that allows the aroma to spread in the store.
What each product in the new line has in common is attention to the environment thanks to the new sustainable packaging and the convenience for consumers. In addition to the single products, in fact, there are also mixes for meat and fish designed according to the different cooking preparations, which satisfy the consumers’ imagination.
For its new line, SIPO has developed an articulated production plan which involves its own production in the Romagna region and the cultivation by associated farms on the Italian territory. Productive know-how in the cultivation of these products is important as it changes according to the climate and seasonality, being very sensitive to light and temperature. Controlling the supply chain is therefore crucial to obtain a high-quality product.
SIPO expects an increase of consumption in the future. The emerging trends are related to ethnic cuisines, where herbs and spices are used more often in the preparation of dishes. Many consumers also prefer to buy fresh herbs rather than those processed in a jar.
In Italian large scale retailers, aromatic herbs are considered products which complete the fruit and vegetables department. Therefore, it would be useful to widen the range by inserting more sought-after varieties for the preparation of gourmet dishes. It is also important to create recipes for some dishes, as SIPO did thanks to the help of some chefs who collaborate with the company. Large scale retailers could therefore have a greater offer by increasing the products on their shelves and highlighting the combinations with the dishes of Italian and international cuisine.
